FIRST CLASS SILVERKRIS LOUNGE, T2,
Singapore

Singapore Airlines Limited

Singapore Airlines' newly transformed First Class SilverKris Lounge at Changi Terminal 2 represents a defining milestone in the airline's multi-phase rejuvenation and a showcase of ONG&ONG Group's integrated 360 Solution. The transformation brings together  project management expertise from Project Innovations, architecture and interior design by ONG&ONG, wayfinding and placemaking by IMMORTAL to deliver a highly refined environment that elevates the First Class experience.

The design approach focused on maximising every spatial opportunity within the constraints of an existing terminal environment. The design team faced technical challenges working within a fully developed terminal environment, where the site was largely empty and lacked existing services. Innovative solutions were required, including opening the roof to accommodate kitchen provisions and integrating new toilet suites while maintaining the desired spatial quality.

The entrance sequence was carefully planned to create a seamless welcome experience. As travellers approach via the terminal bridge, they are embraced by batik imagery on both sides before arriving at the circular entrance foyer. This threshold moment, defined by layered lighting and polished surfaces, encourages a brief pause—allowing guests to recalibrate before moving deeper into the lounge.

Positioned as the first major destination guests encounter, the Signature Bar anchors the space both socially and visually. The design team deliberately placed this horseshoe-shaped centrepiece to create an intimate atmosphere through carefully considered ceiling heights. The team utilised lowered ceilings around the bar to frame the space, allowing the 180-degree configuration to become a welcoming focal point where guests can sit and enjoy their surroundings.

The living and dining areas were conceived to capitalise on the lounge's most valuable asset—its expansive floor-to-ceiling windows. ONG&ONG retained this element to allow travellers to enjoy natural daylight and elevated ceiling heights. The spatial planning ensures guests can lounge, dine, and relax in an environment that feels open and connected to the sky beyond. Statement chandeliers punctuate the space, creating a celestial quality that complements the natural light.

One of the project's most distinctive design decisions involved the kitchen area. The existing terminal structure featured a sloping ceiling—a characteristic that the designers recognised as an opportunity rather than a constraint. By carefully rerouting all building services around this sloped profile, the design preserved the ceiling's dramatic angle, allowing it to read as a floating architectural element above the kitchen. This approach exemplifies the project's overarching philosophy: to uncover and enhance spatial qualities rather than box them away.

Beyond the main social areas, the lounge includes thoughtfully designed supporting environments. Shower suites offer quiet, restorative spaces for travellers seeking respite. The Family Room introduces a more relaxed atmosphere, designed to accommodate families with children without disrupting the lounge's overall tranquillity.

Delivering the lounge within a live airport environment demanded close coordination across all disciplines. From hoarding design during construction through to final handover, Project Innovations' project management ensured seamless collaboration amongst stakeholders, contractors, and airport authorities.

The result is a First Class lounge defined not by excess, but by clarity, comfort, and considered sequencing—a space that reflects Singapore Airlines' commitment to thoughtful, quietly confident hospitality, brought to life through our integrated 360 Solution.
